Chirc-ing
If I was acting-up as a child all my mom had to do was look at me a certain way and I knew to behave. It's different with a lot of kids I see these days. Yesterday my Chachi kept telling me to chirc my 2 year old cousin. Last month my cousin asked me to chirc her two sons. She says she even asks strangers at the Gurdwara or store to chirc her kids. Today, my friend Sonia, made me chirc her son, Arven. I don't think I'm very good at it...here's a picture of Arven while I'm chircing him:

Sorry it wasn't clear... "chirc" is punjabi for scolding/reprimanding.

I think parents (especially Punjabi parents) should chirc their own kids. It is too often that they use others to reprimand their own children and in doing so they are pawning off one of their fundamental rights as a parent-that of setting limits. As a result, the child loses all faith in their own parents ability to chirc and becomes rebelious.
