Good ol' Surrey
Today Pardeep and I painted half my room Navy Blue. I was at Home Depot the other day, getting the paint. I was standing at the paint counter waiting for my paint to be mixed, when a lady came up to the counter to pick up her paint. The Home Depot "paint expert" pulled out a board so he could explain to her why she needed primer for her paint. I was getting my stuff together to leave, so I moved the board to get my paint sample because I didn't want to leave it on the counter. Just then the lady loudly says "Where's my purse?" and turns to look at me. I didn't say anything, but I looked over at her buggy and saw her fake Louis Vuitton purse lying there. She turned to her buggy at the same time and picked up her purse. Hahahaha.... like i would steal her fake Louis Vuitton purse... too funny! It was hard not to laugh, but I managed.
I think she felt guilty for assuming I had stolen her purse, because she started babbling. I get the same vibe when shopping in the Lower Mainland; like the store owners think I'm going to steal something. Philadelphia was not like this at all.
Gurminder Kaur had a post about this as well, and it's disheartening that we're perceived as such.

Tiger Dishware
I was at Winners a few days ago, during my break. I saw these dishes, and wondered if people really bought stuff like this.
A pitcher and a bowl:

This is a plate, and the tiger's face is raised (3-D!), so you couldn't even eat off it.

What is so fascinating about dead cats?
Some people find my blog through search engines. This post about a dead cat has led quite a few people to my site.
Take a look at the top three searches:
November:
1. 58 stupid cat
2. 35 dead cat
3. 9 eggless brownies
October:
1. 56 stupid cat
2. 39 dead cat
3. 27 eggless brownies
The dead cat post was in May, and hardly any dead/stupid cat searches were done from May to September. Anyone know why dead and/or stupid cats have become so popular?
And one more thing... every month there are a few searches for split toe socks. Reconsider. Please.

Another reason that it's important to brush your teeth
You know those forwards you get telling you how many bugs a person ingests while sleeping? Well, imagine a fly laying eggs in your mouth... if you brush properly you'll greatly reduce the chance of having maggots (and other bugs) in your mouth. In the picture on the right, those are maggots around the person's teeth.

Terribly sad news:
Indian girl's one-rupee suicide
Children in a village school in Andhra Pradesh attending their morning assembly
Half of India's children are malnourished, a UN report says
A 12-year-old Indian girl committed suicide after her mother told her she could not afford one rupee - two US cents - for a school meal.
Sania Khatun lived with her mother in a village north of Calcutta under a tarpaulin sheet provided by the state.
Sania normally ate nothing at school but on Friday saw classmates eating rice and asked for one rupee.
Her mother scolded her and when she returned from work found her daughter hanged from the ceiling with a sari.
"She wanted just one rupee... but her mother could not give her the money due to poverty," government official Nakul Chandran Mahato told the Reuters agency.
'Snapped'
The mother, Jainab Bewar, is a widow who works as a maid in the village of Paraspur, 200km (125 miles) north of Calcutta.
She normally fed her daughter with food she could get from the houses she worked in.
India's Telegraph newspaper said Sania was tempted by the sight of classmates eating puffed rice and oil cakes.
Ms Bewar told the newspaper: "I did not give her the money as I did not have it. I snapped at her when she insisted on it."
She and her sons never earn more than $13 a month combined, she says.
India has seen unprecedented economic growth in recent years but many remain untouched by the improvements.
A recent UN report said half of India's children were still malnourished.
How to brush your teeth....
Teeth are meant to last a lifetime, so take care of them. Getting dental work done is a lot more costly and annoying than preventing problems.
Firstly, it is very important that you use a soft toothbrush. When you brush your teeth, it should be for 2 minutes (minimum). If you time yourself you'll see that 2 minutes is a long time. Most people spend less than 30 seconds brushing their teeth.
It's important to brush your teeth because this is the best way to remove bacteria, which clings to your teeth in the form of plaque. When plaque stays on your teeth for longer than 24 hours it gets hard and can't be removed by brushing alone. This hardened plaque can irritate your gums, making them swollen and causing them to bleed easily.
Gums are not supposed to bleed. If they do, you have gingivitis, and this can progress to periodontitis where your gums start pulling away from your teeth. With periodontitis you lose bone, and then your teeth can become loose. This is very bad.
When brushing, use small round motions and short back-and-forth strokes. Brush carefully and gently around the gum line.

Don't forget the inside surface of the front teeth.
The inside surface of the bottom front teeth is the most commonly neglected area. How well do you brush your teeth? Use the following scale to grade yourself.

Oh yeah... you have to floss too!

Bonsai Tree Update
Tuesday, November 01, 2005
I hope he recycles!
I saw a short clip of Paul Martin reading a statement on tv today. It seemed as though he only had a few words on each sheet of paper. He flipped through about 5 sheets in about 30 seconds. He needs to get some eye glasses so his writer can use a smaller font. What a tree waster.
** Addendum... just saw Chretien making a statement on tv, and he's not using ANY paper!! Good guy.
