Paapi

My sister's dog, Ralphie, got a hair(fur)cut a few days ago and he's been so happy and excited since then. Poor paapi. Haha.. paapi means someone who sins, and it sounds like puppy... hahaha... that's gold!

Remembering Gurtaj....
Yesterday evening, Gurtaj's friends held a kirtan for him at Khalsa School. We were all really impressed by his friends' efforts. He was a lucky guy. All we can do for him now is paaht and simran, because that'll help him on his journey to the court of Dharam Raj.
The last time I saw Gurtaj was at my Bayjee's funeral. Gurtaj's mom was saying that she would usually have to ask Gurtaj a few times when she wanted him to go somewhere with her, but for Bayjee's funeral she only had to ask him once. She told him going to funerals was a part of life, and that he should see one. That was only a little over a month ago :S
If anyone wants to share stories about Gurtaj... please do, and I'll pass them on to his parents. I know they would appreciate them.

Gurtaj's Gifts Live On
Last week, my Mamma and Mammi were asked if they would allow Gurtaj to be an organ donor. They agreed, and yesterday we found out that 6 people received Gurtaj's organs, and two people regained their eyesight.

On behalf of the British Columbia Transplant Society, we would like to offer our condolences on the recent death of your son, Gurtaj. Please take consolation in the knowledge that six people are alive today because of your gift of life.

Because you have so generously agreed to organ donation on his behalf, one person with acute respiratory failure received a double lung transplant, one person with acute heart failure received a heart transplant, two people with kidney failure received kidney transplants, one person with liver failure received a liver transplant and another person with diabetes received a pancreas transplant. To date all these individuals continue to do well, and would not have survived without your gift. In addition, the corneas were retrieved allowing two people to regain their eyesight.

Candlelight Vigil

Gurtaj's friends had a candlelight vigil for him last night. Gurtaj's parents really appreciated all that his friends did, and it was nice to see that he had so many friends.

Gurtaj Sekhon (04.13.88 - 07.03.05)

My cousin, Gurtaj, passed away this past weekend in a car accident. He was only 17. A couple of weeks ago he was telling me (over msn) that he wanted to make the cookies on my blog, and that he would make them when he got a chance. Awww... a 17 year old kid thinks he's got plenty of time. Poor Gurtaj.

His funeral will be on Saturday, July 9th at the Riverside Funeral Home at 2pm. Following the funeral, there will be a Sehaj paaht da bhog at Gurdwara Singh Sabha in Surrey.
