pavandeep's Chocolate Chip Cookies
My parents were here last week for "graduation" and I made these cookies for them. They loved them, and said that these cookies were the best cookies they had ever tasted.

1 and a half cups graham cracker crumbs
1/2 cup flour
2 tsp baking powder
14 ounces sweetened condensed milk
1/2 cup butter, softened
4 ounces flaked coconut
12 ounces semisweet chocolate chips
1 cup chopped pecans (almond slivers work well also)
***optional: 1/4 cup raisins

Mix the graham cracker crumbs with the flour and baking powder. In another bowl cream the butter and add the sweetened condensed milk, beating it until it's smooth. Mix in the graham cracker mixture until it's well blended. Stir in the coconut, chocolate chips, and pecans.
Place the mixture in the refrigerator until firm.
Spoon the cookie dough onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Lining with parchment paper helps .
Bake at 375 F for 9-10 minutes... until the edges get light brown.

WHAT THE ?!?!??!
My cousin from India told me that up until she started reading some of my books on '84 she thought Indira Ghandi was a devi. I had to look up devi : "A mother goddess having various manifestations and roles, especially that of consort to Shiva." I'm guessing that Shiva is some sort of hindu god? This is what Indians think?!??! Disgusting, disturbing and so very wrong.

This morning, I got out of my car and was walking to school and guess what I saw lying pathetically on the sidewalk? A dead mouse. Why would some animal kill a mouse and then not eat it? That's pretty wasteful. Then 2 hours later as I was leaving school and pulling out of my parking spot I saw a dead cat lying on the street. Probably hit by a car. I'm not exactly sure how karma works, but maybe the cat was killed because he killed the mouse and then didn't eat it? Stupid cat.

Green arrows: shoes
Red arrow: where the mouse was
Blue arrow: dead cat

Awww... poor cat.

Public Service Announcement
This may come as a surprise to some, but "nightsuit" is not a real word. Just so you (people who use the word) know, when you say "nightsuit" people (who aren't accustomed to the word) think you wear some sort of formal attire to sleep. Proof (from dictionary.com):
No entry found for nightsuit.

Did you mean night suit?

No entry found for night suit.

Did you mean Night sight?

I did a google search and found that there are entries for nightsuit/night suit, but none of them are reliable.

Mugger picks on wrong pensioner

A young thug who tried to mug an 88-year-old former boxing champion was knocked out cold.

Grandfather Gerhard Brinkmann told police he knocked out the 20-something mugger after he tried to steal his wallet and watch.

"I was visiting a friend's grave when a young, long-haired man came up to me and demanded I hand over my money," he said.

"I told him to come closer if he wanted it and as he did I landed a full-force right hook on his chin."

Mr Brinkmann was German lightweight boxing champion in 1936 and a friend of late world champion Max Schmeling.

"He remained unconscious for a short while and I called the police, but he pulled himself up and fled before they got here. I might still be able to put up a good fight, but unfortunately I can't run like I used to," he added.

Looking for distractions
I've done 6 pages of a 15 page paper that's due tomorrow. I think this will be my last paper. Anyways, I've had weeks to do it, and it's not a very challenging topic, but I can't bring myself to finish it. I just can't. I've distracted myself in so many ways. I've cleaned my apartment, started packing, made a new display picture, researched whether or not peanuts cause you to get a cough (my mom says they do- they don't), called a couple of my friends, and now I'm writing this. I guess I should just get it over with.

Tips for the US Army
It's fun to learn about different cultures:
-Don't back away from an Iraqi during conversation. Close personal interaction is customary and distance is considered rude.
-Don't praise an Iraqi's possessions too much. He may give them to you and expect something of equal value in return.

en·vi·ron·ment (n-vrn-mnt, -vrn-)n.
Yesterday, I was walking to my car with my friend and I saw something pink on the sidewalk. I slowed down (almost stopping) so I could figure out what it was, and said "Oh look, a cat fetus." My friend and I continued walking, and then I said "Hey, that was kind of gross, huh?" (She thought it was more sad than gross)

Thinking about the incident today, I'm surprised I didn't say something like "OH MY GOD! THERE'S A CAT FETUS ON THE SIDEWALK! WATCH OUT!!!!! EWWWWWWWWW!"

So what stopped that response? Perhaps it was because here, in Philadelphia, my threshold for grossness and fear are a lot higher. The street where I park is as ghetto as they come: there are dozens of cats, the windows and doors of about a quarter of the houses are boarded up, there's one house that always has water leaking out of it, people yell stuff to other people across the street, and then they yell back something about someone else, sometimes you'll see people walking around in their slippers, some of the cars parked on the street don't have license plates, one car (with a flat tire) has been in the same spot for about a year. When you see all that everyday, one pink cat fetus on the sidewalk doesn't really strike you as being out of place.

The making of a display picture
The following is a step-by-step guide to making your own display picture. Firstly, one needs a sophisticated graphics program which goes by the name of "Paint". The other thing you need a Gurbani or Punjabi Font.
Step 1. Write out your name in your desired color. The font I use is "GurbaniWebThick", size 72 and in bold.

Step 2. "Select" the name in a box, and go to "Image" and choose "Stretch/Skew". Change the vertical setting to 20% (you could use any number, but 20 or 25 is what I use, depending on the length of the name).

Step 3. "Select" the image again, and this time drag the borders to increase the size.

Step 4. Define the margins of the image by adding lines horizontal and vertical to the image where needed.

Step 5. Fill in all the voids using the "Fill with Color" option. It helps to zoom into the image when doing this part. Change the siharees and/or biharees to Kirpans, and add blood if you so desire.

Step 6. You can add a background colour and/or illustrations. Whatever floats your boat.

That's it!

Vegetable Rights
I've been a vegetarian for 19 years, but I've never stopped to consider vegetable cruelty.

Poor, poor watermelon... it's literally separated from it's skin in this damning image of violence towards fruit.
