Another reason that it's important to brush your teeth
You know those forwards you get telling you how many bugs a person ingests while sleeping? Well, imagine a fly laying eggs in your mouth... if you brush properly you'll greatly reduce the chance of having maggots (and other bugs) in your mouth. In the picture on the right, those are maggots around the person's teeth.

"no, i don't show them. should i?"
If you want them to keep their teeth clean, show them the picture.
If you want to keep your patients, don't.
